At Bracesetters Orthodontics which serves Monticello, NY and surrounding areas, Drs. Michael Skrobola,Jonathan Schlosser and their team recommend that their patients wear their aligners for approximately 22 hours a day. It is also encouraged that patients remove their aligners for eating, drinking, brushing and flossing, which is a perfect time to clean them.
What do you do if you’re having a romantic candle light dinner with a loved one this Valentine’s Day?
- Do you pull out your Invisalign® cleaning system right at the table?
- Do you ask for a glass of water and soak your aligners in a denture cleaning or baking soda product in front of your date?
- Do you not remove your aligners and eat and drink with them in instead?
- None of the above.
We at Bracesetters Orthodontics say “D,” none of the above. We understand that all of these scenarios would cause anyone great embarrassment. Even “C.” If you eat and/or drink without removing your aligners the food(s) and/or drink(s) will stain your aligners, and even worst, get trapped in your aligners. What we encourage our patients to do is carry a travel toothbrush and toothpaste with them, and just find a bathroom and brush your aligners, this will save you the embarrassment and help keep your aligners fresh and clean of any particles.
At Bracesetters Orthodontics we want to help you keep your aligners clean so that you can straighten your teeth invisibly. If you have any questions regarding your Invisalign® care don’t hesitate to give us a call at845.794.1300. And as always, remember to rinse (again in the bathroom) before putting your aligners back on after dinner. Happy Valentine’s Day!
